Elburg vesting

Elburg is a small town that use to be on the shore of the Zuiderzee. Because if that, it was a defensive place with fortifications. The Zuiderzee has been closed and polderised and the enemy can’t come from here any more. The high walls remain here around the old town for the attraction of tourists.

Elburg était une bourgade sur la côte de la Zuiderzee. À cause de sa position c’était une place forte entourée de remparts. La Zuiderzee a depuis été obstruée et polderisé et l’ennemi ne peut plus venir par là. Les hautes murailles restent là, autour de la vieille ville qui attire ainsi les touristes.
