Badhoeverdorp houses

Badhoeverdorp is a big village at the south western edge of Amsterdam, build on the Haarlemmermeer polder. This big polder is from the 19th century and untill 1930 it was anly a couple of small houses. Badhoeverdorp started to develop in 1930 when the need for new residences was big. It has also developped after the second world war for the same reasons. Therefore, Badhoeverdorp is mainly a residencial village and the houses on the photo above are quite common there.

Badhoeverdorp est un petit bourg, construit sur le polder Harlemmermeer, aux limites sud-ouest d’Amsterdam. L’assechement du polder Haarlemmermeer a commencé au XIXème siècle mais jusqu’à 1930, Badhoeverdorp n’était que quelques petites maison le long d’une digue. Le village s’est développé en 1930 quand le besoin en habitations était grand. Le développement s’est continué après guerre pour les mêmes raisons. C’est pourquoi les quartiers résidenciels comme celui en photo ci dessous sont courants à Badhoeverdorp.
