De Wittenberg
This very narrow angle house is the Wittenberg. It’s written on it. In fact this is a care house in east part of central Amsterdam.
Cet maison très anguleuse, c’est le Wittenberg, c’est écrit dessus. En fait c’est une maison de soins à l’est du centre ville.

Okura Hotel Amsterdam
This big tower block from the 70’s is the highest land mark right in the middle of the Pijp. Okura Hotel is a luxury japanese hotel complex that hosts bars and restaurants. Two of the restaurants have a Michelin star, Ciel Bleu, a French gastronomy restaurant and Yamazato, a gorgeous Japanese restaurant.

T'Admiraal is open
This was the 8th May 2009. The Admiraal windmill was open because this was Nationale Molendag 2009, the national day of the wond mills. An association was running the windmill with its sails on and we could visit it.

The Viewpoint
There is a nice view on Keizersbrug. Right over the wide Oudeschans canal borded by canal houses and houseboats, you can face the Montelbaanstoren, a 16th century watchtower. This is a nice cityscape and a good place to stop and make a picture. Tourists are allways happy to pose with drooderfiets.

Kokadorus
Once upon a time, the were a jewish maket merchant named Meier Linnewiel. He was selling suspenders on Amstelveld. He was known for his lively speech and his political comments. Hi was know as Kokadorus and he even called himself professor Kokadorus. Today he has his statue on the place he use to sell his suspenders and he also have a café with his name.

Hereford
On Hildo Kropplein, you would expect to have a tribute to Hildo Krop, the sculptor (see his statues). Nothing. On this square, the only piece of art is the decoration of an electric room, covered with a mosaic. It becomes a giant pack of corned beef, with the name Hereford of famous beef cattle as a brand.

Olympisch Kwartier

The city council is very proud of this new Sportspark in Olympiaplein. The fence and the gate are bran new and it is quite arty.

Big red Bin
This big red sculpture is a bin. The top is a big basket so that people on bike can throw their rubish while passing by with their bike. Usualy, this kind of litter is located along cycle path in the country but this one is next to Mirandabad, a big swiming pool with a large bike park. Nice bin, but useless.

This is the entrance of the Food Center of Amsterdam, a big area with lots of warehouses. I’ve never been there but I guess this is full of food and that this is the best place to go shopping if you own a restaurant.

Café Chris is known to be the oldest café in town. This is one of the many brown café in Amsterdam with all wooden interior. This bar is also famous for its small toilet room under a stairway. In the far eastern part of the Pijp, some streets look like the streets of a village with little cute houses with garden. Here we are in Diamantstraat the street that give its name to the district. El Mouhssinine Mosq
This is Mosq El Mouhssinine. This marocan mosq in the northern disdrict opened in november 2006. Its green tiles makes it well visible on the corner of Meeuwenlaan.

Over the Vondelpark
This image has been taken in spring. the weather wasn’t that nice but people were still going to the Vondelpark. Vondelpark is Amsterdamer’s favorite park.
