Just in case you didn’t notice, this paintend wall is an artwork (Dit is een kunstwerk), so please don’t graffiti on it. This is more or less what that hugly yellow sign says. 't Koggeschip
Het Koggeschip is a Roman catholic primary school (Rooms Katholieke Basisschool) in Geuzenveld-Slotermeer. Geuzenveld is a district built in the 50’s at the northwestern edge of Amstedam. At that time long and borring blocs of houses were very trendy. As the school building was getting old, they decided to build this new one. GSG architecten B.V. delivered this brick rectangle in 2005. The...

Kraaiennest
This place is abandonned. It looks like it was a shopping center with the name of the nearby street, or the name of the nearby metro station that gets its name from the same street. Kraaiennest means crow’s nest and is a navigation term for the upper part of the mainmast on old boats. All streets in the district (K buurt) starts with a K. Cet endroit est désafecté, il semblerait que ce...

Broek's houses
This is just a new district in the south of Broek in Waterland. Houses try to imitate the traditional wooden walls of the area in the north of Amsterdam but colours are more fancy.

Fietspad on a polder
This field on a polder has a wetering, a small draining canal alog its border. It is a good idea to draw a bike path (fietspad) along this wetering, this is almost the shortest way back to Amsterdam (zuidoost).

This statue of a turftrapster (turf collector) is a tribute to what was the main activity around Amstelveen from the 16e till the 19e century. Collecting turf around the river Amstel and selling it to Amsterdam paid better than just farming. But it was also breaking the back of all workers. This statue commisioned by the local Rabobank and realised in 1979 by the famous sculptor Pieter de Monchy...

On Staturdays the street is saturated with big Mercedes and SUVs and the pavement is crowded with siliconed blonds.

The graffiti artist FAKE took several days to achieve this painted wall, in front of a building site of the Prinsengracht. Colourful graffiti under the sun, that matches the colours of the girl, passing by in front of me.

Jan Swinkelbrug
In 2009, Abcoude inaugurated its new railway station, with new bike stalls. It is located north of the river Gein, closer to the city centre while the former station was in the south. To finish the works they built a new bicycle track between two stations. This red bridge over the Gein links the north and the south part of the new track. En 2009, Abcoude a inauguré sa nouvelle gare. Elle est...

Thanks to good urban plans, some street are not busy with cars. A wide pavement can then be use as a playground with no risk for children. Cars are running slow on secondary streets thanks to speed bumps and chicanes.

Wooden houses in Weesp
Weesp is a village on the defense line around Amsterdam. Because of this situation, some areas near the village had to stay clear in case of volountary flooding to protect the big city. Also areas around the fort was kept clear of vegetation and buildings. Small houses were allowed, but only of wood, so that the garrison could burn them quickly if the enemy approached. The expendable wooden...

This second one has been beheaded and some parts has been used for the rebuilding of the Gooyer windmill. Le lond de la rivière...
